Meta Adds More Languages to AI Translations for Reels

Meta is expanding its AI translations for Reels to include two more languages, allowing people to see your content in more places. Meta originally released its AI translation for Reels in August, allowing users to translate English and Spanish language footage. Meta’s AI capabilities can even lip sync your audio to match your selected language. Meta is currently adding Hindi and Portuguese translations as well.

Meta explains that many creators want to reach global audiences, and their feedback helped shape our work on translation features. With Meta AI, creators can now seamlessly translate and dub reels, breaking down language barriers so they can share their work with more viewers worldwide. With multi-lingual translations between English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Hindi, creators can now share their content across some of the largest Reels markets on both Instagram and Facebook.

The addition of Hindi, in particular, is crucial in this regard, as India is now the largest single market for Facebook and Instagram usage, outpacing the United States by a large margin. As a result, the ability to translate your Reels into a more natural language for this audience could significantly increase certain producers’ audience reach.

Meta AI mimics the sound and tone of a creator’s voice when translating reels, resulting in content that feels truly like the creator, although in a different language.  A creator can also enable the lip synchronisation option, which syncs the translated audio to the creator’s mouth movements, resulting in a more authentic viewing experience.

Meta’s lip syncing is also quite amazing; yet, it appears a little strange and off-time.  Overall, the ability to effortlessly auto-translate your material in a realistic-looking manner could be a significant benefit for many producers trying to expand into new markets.

Meta says that AI translations are optional, and they are clearly marked when they appear in the content.

Every translated reel clearly shows the label “Translated with Meta AI,” so you always know when a reel has been translated. You can turn translations on or off anytime, or watch reels in the original language. Just go to the three-dot menu, open the audio and language section, and select “Don’t translate.

Overall, Meta’s expanded AI translation features make it easier for creators to reach global audiences. With support for more languages, voice-matching, and optional lip syncing, creators can share content that feels natural to viewers around the world. And since all translations are clearly labeled and easy to turn on or off, users stay in control of their viewing experience.
